How to Print Multiple PDF Pages Per Sheet (2-Up, 4-Up, Free)
Arrange multiple PDF pages onto one sheet for compact printing — 2 pages, 4 pages, or 9 pages per sheet. Free, browser-based, download before printing.
Printing multiple pages per sheet saves paper, creates compact handouts, and is essential for presentation slide printouts. FixMyPDF's N-Up tool rearranges pages into 2-up, 4-up, or 9-up layouts and creates a new PDF you can print — or share in the compact format.
What Is N-Up Printing?
N-up printing places N original pages onto a single sheet. 2-up places 2 pages side by side on one sheet (commonly used for handouts). 4-up places 4 pages in a 2×2 grid (standard for PowerPoint handouts). 9-up places 9 pages in a 3×3 grid (used for proof printing and overview layouts).
How to Create an N-Up PDF
Go to fixmypdf.in/tools/nup. Upload your PDF. Choose your layout (2-Up, 4-Up, 9-Up). Select output paper size (A4 or Letter). Choose page order (left to right, top to bottom). Optionally add borders between pages. Click "Create N-Up PDF" and download.
Why Create the PDF First vs Using Printer Settings
Most printers have a "pages per sheet" option in the print dialog. However, this rearranges at print time only — you can't save or share the compact layout. Our tool creates an actual PDF with the pages already arranged, which you can share digitally, email, or print on any printer including those without n-up settings.
2-Up for Presentation Handouts
2-up is the standard for presentation handouts when you want each slide readable without a magnifying glass. Place 2 slides side by side on an A4 or Letter sheet in landscape orientation. Print double-sided for a professional handout booklet covering multiple slides per page.
4-Up for Slide Decks
4-up (2×2 grid) is the PowerPoint default handout format — 4 slides per A4 page. This is the most common format for conference materials, lecture notes, and workshop handouts. Small enough to save paper, large enough to read the main points on each slide.
Adding Borders Between Pages
Enable the "Page Borders" option to draw thin lines between page areas in the n-up layout. This makes it easier to distinguish where one page ends and another begins, especially useful for handouts with white-background slides that would otherwise bleed into each other.
After Creating the N-Up PDF
The N-up PDF is ready to print or share. If it's large (many high-resolution slides), compress it first. For conference materials, consider password-protecting it so only attendees can access the handout.
