How to Redact a PDF on Linux

Permanently redact sensitive content from a PDF on Linux without software. Free browser tool.

Permanently redact sensitive text or images from a PDF on Linux — no GUI application install needed. FixMyPDF handles it in the browser.

Open Firefox or Chrome on Linux

Go to fixmypdf.in/tools/redact-pdf.

Upload the PDF

Click "Choose File" and select the PDF containing sensitive content.

Draw Redaction Boxes

Click and drag on the PDF preview to draw black boxes over each area you want to permanently remove.

Apply Permanent Redaction

Click Redact. Content is permanently removed — not just visually covered. The underlying text data is gone from the file.

Alternative to pdftk or ImageMagick

Some Linux approaches use ImageMagick to flatten a PDF then redraw over areas. FixMyPDF does true text-level redaction in the browser without any install.
