How to Compress a PDF on Android (No App Download)
Reduce PDF file size on Android in Chrome or Firefox — no app install, no Google Drive required. Free, private, works on all Android phones.
Android's Files app and Google Drive offer limited PDF compression with little control over output quality. FixMyPDF's browser-based compressor runs in Chrome or Firefox on any Android device — select your PDF, choose a compression level, and download the smaller file in under a minute.
Open Chrome on Android and Load the Tool
Open Chrome (or Firefox) on your Android phone and navigate to fixmypdf.in/tools/compressor. The page is fully mobile-optimised with large touch buttons. No app download, no Play Store, no account.
Select Your PDF
Tap "Select PDF File" — Android's file picker opens. Navigate to your Downloads folder, Google Drive, or any locally stored PDF. On Android 13 and later, the picker shows a clean file browser. On older versions, you may need to tap "Browse" to navigate to your PDF location.
Choose Compression Level
Select Low, Medium, or High. For PDFs you're sending via WhatsApp or Gmail (which has a 25 MB attachment limit), use High compression to get the smallest possible file. For documents you're keeping for reference, Medium is the right balance of quality and size.
Download to Android
Tap "Compress PDF" and then "Download" when ready. The compressed file saves to your Downloads folder. Open the Files app, navigate to Downloads, and find the compressed PDF. From there, share via Gmail, WhatsApp, Telegram, or any other app.
Compressing Scanned Documents on Android
Many Android users scan documents using Google Drive's scan feature or apps like Adobe Scan. These produce large PDFs — 2–5 MB per page. Our High compression setting typically reduces these 60–75%, making a 10-page scanned document go from 30 MB to under 8 MB.
Works on All Android Devices
The tool works on Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and any Android device with a modern browser. Minimum requirement: Chrome 80+ or Firefox 75+. If your browser is up to date (which Android auto-updates), the tool works without any configuration.
Other Android PDF Tasks
After compressing, you can merge PDFs on Android, split out specific pages, or fix rotation on scanned pages — all from the same Chrome browser tab.
