How to Add a Text Watermark to a PDF (Free)

Add custom text watermarks to PDF pages — CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, DO NOT COPY, or any text. Free, no account, works in any browser.

FixMyPDF's watermark tool adds custom text watermarks to PDF pages. Type your watermark text, choose position and opacity, apply to all pages or selected pages.

Common Text Watermarks

CONFIDENTIAL: for internal documents shared externally. DRAFT: for documents under review. DO NOT COPY: for controlled distribution documents. FOR REVIEW ONLY: for documents sent to reviewers. [Recipient name or email]: for tracing leaks — personalised watermarks that identify the specific copy sent to each recipient.

How to Add a Text Watermark

Go to fixmypdf.in/tools/watermark-pdf. Upload your PDF. Enter your watermark text. Choose font size, opacity, position (centre, diagonal, header, footer), and colour. Apply to all pages or a page range. Download.

Opacity Settings

Light opacity (20–30%): the watermark is visible but does not obscure reading. This is standard for DRAFT and CONFIDENTIAL marks. High opacity (60–80%): the watermark dominates the page — use for DO NOT DISTRIBUTE or controlled copies.

Diagonal vs Horizontal

Diagonal watermarks (45° across the centre) are harder to crop out and visually clearer on any page layout. Horizontal watermarks in a header or footer are less intrusive but easier to remove by cropping.
