How to Sign a PDF on iPhone (No App Download)
Add your signature to a PDF on iPhone in Safari — draw, type, or upload. No app, no account, no Adobe subscription. Works on iPad too.
iOS has a built-in Markup tool for signing PDFs in the Files app and Mail — but it's limited to drawing only and has no typed or uploaded signature option. FixMyPDF gives you all three signature types in Safari on iPhone, with precise positioning and free download.
iOS Built-In Signing vs FixMyPDF
In iOS, open a PDF in Files, tap the pen icon, tap Signature, draw with your finger, and tap Done. This works but is limited: no typed signature, no image upload, and the signature can't be resized or repositioned precisely. Our tool adds these missing options.
Open Safari and Go to the Sign Tool
Open Safari on your iPhone and navigate to fixmypdf.in/tools/pdf-sign. Tap "Select PDF" to choose your document from the Files app. The signing interface is optimised for touch on iPhone.
Choose Your Signature Method
Tap "Draw" to sign with your finger (use a stylus for a neater result). Tap "Type" to enter your name in a cursive signature font — good for quick, professional-looking signatures. Tap "Upload" to use a pre-saved image of your handwritten signature.
Position and Size Your Signature
After creating your signature, drag it to the correct position on the PDF page. Pinch to resize. The signature appears as an overlay — you can see the document beneath it to ensure correct placement over signature lines.
Download the Signed PDF
Tap "Download Signed PDF" — the file saves to your Downloads folder in the Files app. Share via AirDrop, email, iMessage, or save to iCloud Drive. The signature is embedded permanently in the PDF.
Signing on iPad with Apple Pencil
On iPad with Apple Pencil, the draw option works especially well — you get a natural handwriting feel. Draw your signature directly on the screen as you would on paper. The Apple Pencil input is used for the drawn signature, providing the most authentic looking result.
After Signing on iPhone
Once signed and downloaded, the PDF is ready to share. If you need to add a date or text field alongside the signature, use the annotation tool first, then sign. To protect the signed document from modification, add a password with our protect tool on iPhone.
