How to Create a Booklet from a PDF (Free, Print-Ready)

Rearrange PDF pages into booklet order for folding and stapling — free, browser-based. Create A5 booklets from A4 PDFs in one click.

A booklet PDF rearranges your document pages into the correct printing order so that when you fold and staple a double-sided printout, the pages read in sequence. FixMyPDF's booklet tool does this page rearrangement automatically — free, in your browser.

How Booklet Page Order Works

For an 8-page document: print pages 8 and 1 on the front of sheet 1, pages 2 and 7 on the back of sheet 1, pages 6 and 3 on the front of sheet 2, pages 4 and 5 on the back of sheet 2. Fold and staple, and the pages read 1–8 in order. Our tool calculates and arranges all these page pairs automatically.

How to Create a Booklet PDF

Go to fixmypdf.in/tools/booklet. Upload your PDF. Select your paper size (A4 creates an A5 booklet when folded; Letter creates a half-Letter booklet). Choose binding direction (left or top binding for different orientations). Click "Create Booklet PDF".

What If My Page Count Isn't a Multiple of 4?

Booklets require a page count divisible by 4. If your PDF has 10 pages, the tool automatically adds 2 blank pages to reach 12. These blank pages appear at the back of the booklet (inside back cover) where blank pages are expected and unobtrusive.

Printing the Booklet PDF

Print the resulting PDF on a printer with double-sided (duplex) printing — one click, all sheets print correctly. If your printer doesn't support duplex, print odd pages first, flip the paper stack, and print even pages. Then fold all sheets together and staple along the fold.

Common Booklet Use Cases

Event programmes for weddings, plays, and conferences; small product catalogues and lookbooks; recipe booklets; educational handouts; church bulletins; personal zines and newsletters. Any document 4–80 pages can be turned into a professional-looking booklet.

Saddle-Stitch vs Perfect Binding

Our booklet tool creates saddle-stitch format (fold + staple through the spine) — best for documents up to about 64 pages. Perfect binding (glued spine, like a paperback book) requires a separate process. For booklets, saddle-stitch is the standard home/office printing format.

After Creating the Booklet

Your booklet PDF is ready to print. If it's large (A4 paper with full-bleed images), compress it first to speed up printing. To verify page order is correct, open in your PDF reader and check that pages 1–4 are in the positions described in the first section above.
