How to Merge PDF Files on Mac (Free, No Acrobat)
Combine multiple PDF files on Mac in your browser — no Adobe Acrobat, no Preview limitations. Drag to reorder, then merge instantly.
Mac's built-in Preview app can merge PDFs — but only by dragging thumbnails in the sidebar, which is cumbersome for many files. FixMyPDF's merge tool lets you add multiple PDFs, drag to reorder them, and download the combined file in seconds, right from Safari or Chrome.
Open the Merge Tool in Your Mac Browser
Go to fixmypdf.in/tools/merge in Safari, Chrome, or Firefox on your Mac. The page loads instantly. No extension, no login, no software download required. Everything runs in your browser using your Mac's processing power.
Add Your PDFs
Click "Add PDF Files" to open a Finder dialog and select multiple PDFs at once (hold ⌘ to select multiple). Or drag and drop files directly from Finder onto the tool. You can add as many PDFs as you need — there's no arbitrary file count limit.
Reorder Files by Dragging
After adding your files, you'll see them listed in order. Drag the file rows up or down to arrange them in the order they should appear in the merged PDF. The final PDF will follow this order exactly — Chapter 1 first, then Chapter 2, and so on.
Merge and Download
Click "Merge PDFs" to combine the files. The merged PDF downloads to your Mac's Downloads folder. Open it in Preview or your PDF reader to verify the page order before sharing. File size will be approximately the sum of all individual PDFs (no quality is lost in merging).
Why Preview's Merge Is Awkward
Preview requires you to open the first PDF, then open a Finder window alongside it, then drag pages from the Finder panel into Preview's sidebar — a multi-step process that doesn't scale well beyond 2–3 files. Our tool handles unlimited files with a simple drag-and-drop list interface.
Merging Password-Protected PDFs
If your PDFs are password-protected, you'll need to remove the password first. Use our PDF unlock tool to remove restrictions from each file, then return to the merge tool to combine them.
Other Mac PDF Tasks
After merging, you might want to compress the combined PDF to reduce its file size for sharing, or split out specific sections for different recipients. All tools are free and browser-based on Mac.
