How to Sign a PDF on Chromebook (Free, No App)
Add a digital signature to a PDF on Chromebook in Chrome — draw, type, or upload. No Android apps, no Linux setup required.
Chrome OS's built-in PDF viewer doesn't support adding signatures. FixMyPDF's sign tool runs in Chrome on Chromebook, giving you draw, type, and upload signature options without installing any app or enabling Linux.
Open the Sign Tool in Chrome
On your Chromebook, open Chrome and go to fixmypdf.in/tools/pdf-sign. Click "Select PDF" to load your document from Downloads or Google Drive.
Drawing a Signature on Chromebook
Click "Draw" and sign using your Chromebook's touchpad or, if you have a Chromebook with a touchscreen (like Pixelbook or Lenovo Chromebook Duet), sign with your finger. On touchpad: press and hold while dragging to draw. On touchscreen: draw naturally with your finger.
Typing a Signature
Click "Type" and enter your name using the Chromebook keyboard. Choose from cursive signature fonts. This is the quickest method and works well for business documents, contracts, and official approvals where a typed signature is accepted.
Uploading a Signature Image
If you have a photo of your handwritten signature saved in Google Drive or Downloads, click "Upload" to select it. PNG with transparent background gives the cleanest result. Drag to position on the signature line and resize as needed.
Position and Download
Drag the signature to the correct location on the PDF page. Click "Download Signed PDF" — the file saves to Downloads. Open Files app, find the signed PDF, and move to Google Drive for sharing or email attachment.
Legal Validity on Chromebook
Electronic signatures created on Chromebook using our tool are legally valid under the US ESIGN Act and EU eIDAS for most document types. The signature process happens in Chrome — no external server is involved in recording the signing act.
After Signing on Chromebook
Share the signed PDF via Gmail attachment, Google Drive link, or download to a USB drive. To prevent modification, add a password. To make the signature layer permanent, flatten the PDF — both tools are free in Chrome.
